Thanks for reaching out. We welcome you and your teen to join Gobi, a free program tailored for middle and high school students to reconsider their marijuana/alcohol use.
Created by a team of clinicians, Gobi is an education-focused initiative guiding teens to self-examine behaviors related to drug and alcohol use, aiding in better decision-making. Not a substitute for treatment, but a self-guided tool to promote self-examination and a healthier lifestyle.
Families often reach out due to concerns about their teens using alcohol or marijuana to cope with their symptoms of anxiety or depression. Our aim is to shift this unhealthy approach by offering specialized programs that help teens reconsider self-medicating via substance use with healthier, to more constructive coping mechanisms. These unique tracks are not treatment programs for anxiety or depression but focus on addressing the added risk of substance misuse to their mental health.
The program, spanning 21 days, involves daily assignments sent to your teen via text or email. These assignments, such as short and long answers, multiple choice, or activities, take about 10 minutes each day. Their responses are confidential, and we do monitor them with a licensed counselor. A follow-up meme provides a funny and motivating reminder to complete the tasks.
As a parent, you'll receive daily informative emails and assignments based on expert insights and feedback from parents who've undergone the program, aimed at guiding and supporting you in dealing with adolescent substance misuse.
Importantly, during the program 3 assignments are to have "walk and talk" sessions with your teen. These scripted walks include specific questions for both sides to answer, fostering important conversations. We encourage you to prioritize these sessions.
If you're interested in enrolling your teen in Gobi, watch our Instagram Live segment together, have a discussion with your teen, and if they're willing to participate, reply to this email. Upon confirmation, an invitation to the Gobi Community will be sent, allowing you to register and invite your teen, another adult, or teens.
